What Causes Split Ends

So you ask yourself, "why do I get split ends in my hair?" Split ends are caused when the protective cuticle has been stripped away from the hair fibers. The causes of split ends could range from excessive heat damage, coloring treatments, poorly brushed hair, unhealthy hair and lack of keeping up on your regular trimming appointments. Once the ends of the hair split, it is impossible to fix. The only way to rid split ends is to cut them off or prevent them in the first place. So trim, trim, trim because you don't want your hair to split all the way up the shaft, rendering that hair ruined.
