essie Grey Nail Polish Review

Grey Essie Review

Generally, when a trend shows up on the runway it can take months or even years to show up among the public. Ever since Lady Gaga sported pale grey nails on the September 2010 cover of Vanity Fair, different shades of grey nail polish have been popping up in every nail care line imaginable. Essie is one brand in particular that has followed this trend and delivered several different varieties of grey essie polish.

Essie was established in 1981 when they released their first 12 shades. Ever since Essie came into existence, they have been cranking out the newest and trendiest colors in their carefully crafted collections. Essie products not only offer the trendiest colors but they also have a long-lasting formula that goes on easily, dries quickly, and leaves a smooth finish. Since grey nail polish has gained popularity, Essie has been incorporating new variations of the trendy shade in their products.

Some people feel that grey is a dull color that doesn't flatter the skin tone, but Essie has been hard at work blending the perfect greys that look chic and sophisticated. Grey nail lacquer can coordinate with nearly any color and it doesn't overwhelm attire or accessories. It can be worn against bright, vibrant colors or formal blacks and whites.

For a more feminine look, try a muted grey that is very pale. Pale greys almost appear to have a lilac or blue base as they are very soft and pastel-like. Essie's "Loophole" is the perfect light shade of grey. It has a "molten chrome finish" and it looks very girly.

Even though a traditional grey seems as though it could be boring, Essie has reinvented it into a sleek shade that makes nails look shiny. It looks great against nearly any color and skin tone. "Cocktail bling" is a jewel-like shade that is simple, yet elegant. "Chinchilly" is another standard grey with a bit of shine.

For those that like darker polishes, Essie has formulated a richer grey color that looks like the perfect blend of black and silver. "Smokin' hot" is a deep grey that is a great substitute for black or dark silver polish.

For the perfect grey manicure, apply a cuticle oil and push cuticles back. Prep nails by buffing the tops of them and shaping the tips with a nail file. Wash your hands to remove excess cuticle oil to ensure that polish will stick to nails. After buffing nails, apply a base coat of clear polish prior to applying grey polish. Next, apply one thin layer of grey polish and follow up with a second coat. After letting nails dry for a few minutes, apply a top coat. Let nails thoroughly dry under a light or fan. Use drying aerosol spray if you are in a hurry.

Continue to apply a clear topcoat every few days to make your manicure last longer. If your polish smudges or chips, simply use nail polish remover to gently fix it and fill it in with grey polish. Apply a top coat to make polish dry into a smooth finish.
