Silver Nail Polish Review

Silver polishes can add an awesome bit of flair to the gray nail polish trend. Although gray nail polishes look great, silver polishes offer a shimmery, shiny finish that most gray polishes don't have. Silver lacquer can be worn with so many different outfits and accessories and many shades of silver are very subtle so they offer a great bit of color without being too overwhelming or distracting. Even though silver seems like a fairly standard shade that doesn't have many variations there are actually several different types of silver shades with different effects. There are sheer silver polishes, silver glitter polishes, standard silver polishes, and dark silver polishes. Here are the different types of silver polishes and how they should be worn:

Sheer silver polishes are very sheer and look very natural. You can wear a sheer silver enamel to a professional work environment or to a family function. It will look fun and girly but will not look too dark for a simple affair. You can pair a sheer silver with a flowy dress that is feminine and delicate. Although you want to create a sheer style make sure you apply several coats of your sheer silver nail polish so that it does not look streaky and messy. Top your polish off with a shiny top coat to create a soft yet glamorous finish. This particular shade of silver will look great against a dark skin tone. Try "oui madame" and "pearly white" by Essie for a sheer silvery finish.

Glittery silver nail polish really makes your nails shine. Although glittery polishes tend to be mostly made of a clear polish, silver glitter can look a little over done for a work function so make sure your polish isn't too gaudy if you intend on wearing it to work. You can wear a glittery silver polish with practically anything. It will match nicely with any color of clothing and you can layer it over other nail polish colors for a sparkly finish. If you are wearing glittery silvery polish and you are going to a fun place like a night club add glitter to your eyes, face, or lips for a fun pairing. Check out "set in stones" and "pure pearlfection" by Essie for a perfect glitter finish.

Standard silver lacquers look great with practically any color and really look sophisticated with blacks, grays, and whites. They aren't overly distracting so they would work fine in an office environment. You could also wear this color with leggings and an intricate top to a fancy lunch out with the girls. A standard silver will look somewhat like a gray but it will have a shimmery finish. Pair standard silver polish with silver jewelry or mix it up with gold jewelry. Take a look at "carnival" and "silver bullions" by Essie for a great silver shade.

Dark silver nail lacquers look edgy and trendy and they look great at a sophisticated function. You can wear this with a black blazer or a white blouse. This will look really great peeking through lighter strappy silver sandals. You could easily pair this color with a lighter silver for a gradient effect. Check out "over the edge" by Essie for a dark, sexy silver nail polish.
