Curling Irons Review

Curling irons are types of hair irons that are used to curl the hair. Hair irons are tools that use heat to change the structure and texture of hair. Other types of hair irons are straightening irons which are used to straighten or curl the hair depending on their shape and crimping irons which are used to crimp the hair. Most types of curling irons have electric heating systems which are used to warm the iron to the desired temperature. Cordless curling irons are generally made with butane.

Curling irons are also sometimes referred to as curling tongs and can be used to create a wavy or curly texture. Curling irons are created with several different substances and can be found with many different barrel sizes, barrel shapes, and handle types. The barrel of a curling iron can range anywhere from 3/8 inches to 3 inches and can be used for many different styles and purposes. Smaller barrels are generally used to make tight spiral curls while larger barrels are typically used to create big voluminous bouncy curls or loose waves.

Curling irons are made with several different types of material including Teflon, ceramic, tourmaline, metal, and titanium. Some are intended to get hotter while others are created to prevent major damage to the hair from heat styling. The barrels of a curling iron also come in several different shapes to achieve different types of looks. They are typically shaped like a cylinder, cone, or reverse cone and they will sometimes come with brush attachments to make curling easier. Some curling irons even come with double or triple barrels.

Turning a curling iron to get the perfect curl can be difficult and tiring so many curling irons now come with comfortable grips and handles. Some handle styles include spring-loaded, marcel, or clipless. Spring-loaded handles are fairly generic and have been gradually phased out with marcel and clipless handles. The marcel handle was named after Marcel Grateau and it is used to apply a limited amount of pressure and to easily turn the curling iron in your hair. Clipless curling irons have become more and more popular in recent years. They have no clamp and are used by just simply wrapping the hair around the iron. Most curling wands come with Kevlar gloves to prevent burns.

There are several things to keep in mind when using a professional curling iron. Coat your hair with a heat protecting product prior to using a curling iron. If a curling iron has an adjustable temperature feature make sure you only set it to the minimum temperature you need it to be at to achieve results. Do not consistently curl your hair everyday. If you curl your hair, wear it for a few days before washing it out and curling it again. Do not hold the iron in the hair for to long to prevent burning your hair. Lastly, if you regularly curl your hair make sure you apply a deep conditioner at least once a week to maintain a healthy texture.
